Nida & Aseem

Nida and Aseem met over a long winter of missed flights and late phone calls, and decided their wedding should feel like the opposite — unhurried, warm, entirely theirs. They chose the desert outside Dubai because it asks nothing of you but attention. We began before sunrise with the two of them alone on the dunes, the light still grey and cold, and finished many hours later under a canopy of lanterns as their families sang the same songs their grandparents once did. What stayed with us was not the scale of it, but the quiet: the way Nida held her mother's hand through the nikah, the pause before Aseem spoke, the sand cooling underfoot while the music carried on.
